HERS Rating

The long awaited, official Energy Star Certification was delivered today. It exceeded our expectations. We received a 5 Star Plus rating, the highest available, with a HERS score of 60. To be considered energy efficient, the HERS score has to be 100 or less. Our home is therefore considered 40% more efficient than the minimum required for Energy Star certification. This rating exceeded our expectations, and I believe will be felt over time as Obama's energy plan causes rates to skyrocket. Right now, we are paying the same amount in utilities that we paid in our last rental home in Washington. Great stuff.
