When I got home from Dallas last night, Ellen surprised me by telling me that we are breaking ground TODAY. The county issued a permit to excavate, contingent upon receipt of the sealed drawings before occupancy, and the excavator our GC had lined up was able to begin immediately. By this weekend, we should have pictures of a big hole in the ground for you to see. As you may have noticed, we lost the battle over sealing the drawings. We are building the first timber frame home in Franklin County, MO., and there was just no getting around it. We are paving the way for the next one, if that's any consolation (not). The president of Riverbend generously agreed to pay a portion of the fee at our GC's suggestion, which was very helpful. Many thanks to Jim and Kent for their efforts on our behalf. Both went above and beyond to help us with this architect thing and we sincerely appreciate it!!
Riverbend has been an outstanding organization with which to work. Our decision to purchase our home from them has been ratified several times already, and we haven't seen a timber yet. We heartily recommend them to anyone interested in this type of home.
