Plan updates

Except for building out the basement for Mom, all the quotes are in. After discussion and reflection, Ellen and I have opted for a fiscally conservative approach to things. We've decided to postpone the new sofas until Jan/Feb of next year. Instead, we'll purchase bar stools for the kitchen island, reupholster the dining room chairs, add window treatments in both the guest bedroom and mine, buy a couple of area rugs for the foyer and my office, etc. We will postpone the hardscapes in the back until next year. The post and rail fence for the parking area will be "Bob built" planters instead, with bumpers like you see in a parking lot. We decided a fence would have looked out of place. For the landscaping in front, we'll do what I described in the earlier post. We'll plant grass ourselves next month and locate perennial beds next season, along with a truckload of mulch. Gone is the Vinca ground cover and my no-maintenance fantasy.
