The cabinets look very good, I think. This was all Ellen, from selection to design. I believe I got a nod in there towards the end and complained that the island was too big at some point, but that's about it. I still think the island is supersized, but I guess a big island isn't a terrible thing. The granite guys are supposed to measure tomorrow, so those should be installed sometime next week. We worked with Shaw's here in Washington, and are very pleased with the experience. The price was competitive with Lowe's, which surprised me, but the quality I think is better. The finish is natural hickory and contrasts nicely with the floor. As I toured the cabinets this evening, I was frankly surprised at the amount of storage. As kitchens go these days, this is actually a small one, so I viewed the pantry as an inexpensive way to save a bunch of money we'd otherwise have to put into cabinetry. However, the island delivers a lot of storage, so I have to say, I think we have more kitchen storage than anywhere we've ever lived. It's hard to see all the open spaces in these shots, but the appliances we'll install are a dishwasher on the outside wall, a refrigerator in the large space behind the island and the other opening on that wall will house a double oven. I think it's a standard oven and a convection one, but don't hold me to that. I didn't go deep on that decision. A microwave will be installed in the island and that's where the propane cooktop will be as well. A word on the refrigerator....all of the appliances will have an oil rubbed bronze finish, but the fridge is white. It's one we own and is relatively new. Its style prevented us from getting a panel overlay to make it look like the rest of the appliances. One day, we may replace it, but for now, there'll be a big white box in a room full of bronze. Pardon the shortfall in taste. The refreshments waiting for you will still be just as cold.

Tell that person who left their 20oz drink on your window ledge that they'll now have to replace it due to the ring it left. ;)
The kitchen looks amazing. I'd kill for that much space!!
