Welcome Riverbend customer from Atlanta!

Our builder, Jim Ince, mentioned today that Riverbend had pointed a prospective customer of theirs from Atlanta to our blog. Welcome, and feel free to contact us if you'd like more details on any facet of this project. What follows is an unpaid, unashamed and unabashed plug for both Riverbend and our builder. These outstanding organizations have made us look much smarter than we are and are directly responsible for this project's success to date. I consider it a success when visitors call our home 'magnificent', 'awesome,' or erupt with an 'oh my God'. We've heard all of those and more. Even closer to my heart is that Jim has brought this in right on budget or under. The excesses that have occurred, like the deck, the porch and the flooring, are a direct result of changes Ellen and I made after the project started. We made those deliberately and after financial analyses. I've heard so many horror stories of people who have built homes that ended up seriously over budget, and even in some cases, that they were unable to complete. Yes, some of that is doubtless their fault, but most problems seem to fall into the category of faulty bidding and then surprises along the way. We picked Riverbend because the commitment to quality and customer service was self evident. Whatever you do as a Riverbend customer, be sure to buy the panels and windows from them, not just the timbers. I have proof points for you to support that recommendation, if you're interested. We picked Jim for his passion and attention to detail. He's maintained both throughout. Indeed, we owe our progress to them.
The siding continues and will do so for another few weeks. Since it's a ranch, there's a lot of wall to cover. Again, I'm so glad we went with a fibre cement siding instead of something requiring maintenance every other year. I expect the exterior stone work will complete this week. There's just the front porch area and the columns in the front and rear. If they get the rear done, I'll take another pic of that side. I'm sure you're getting tired looking at the front with the dumpster and construction materials lying about.
This is the last post for the week. Very busy at work, thankfully, so I won't be able to get to the site until late Friday, if then.
