Rear View

This shot gives a look at the exterior beadboard under the roof extension over the deck. We're happy we went this route, even though that means some extra maintenance. The alternative was a composite or other synthetic material, but they just didn't have the look we wanted to achieve. The stone columns are a little more spindly than I had envisioned, but I guess that fits with the thinner Ipe' supports. It may have been out of place to build out a more massive stone column with 4 x 4 support posts elsewhere. Again, the 4x4 Ipe posts are actually stronger than 6x6 pressure treated posts and were used to better match the deck itself.
