One picture is worth a....

Not much time for pics today, so there's only one. Approximately 15 minutes after this shot, darkness fell, so it was a squeaker getting an update in for you. Speaking of darkness, one of the reasons for the dormers over the kitchen and dining room is light. We have a lot of glass in this house, not only for asthetics, but also to take advantage of as much natural light as we can. There will be traditional drywall on the walls, which will help, but the floors are hardwood and the ceiling will be beadboard. Those two elements serve to darken the rooms. The more light we can bring in from outside, the less we'll have to pay for with fixtures and electricity.

Lighting is a very important design issue, but frankly, we still haven't figured that one out yet. That may be a shame on us, but it's hard to know what lighting you need until you actually see the room. At least, that's my excuse. We do have a budget, and as I said in an earlier post, there won't be a twisted collection of antlers hanging from the ceiling, but beyond that, the whole lighting picture is dimly lit.
