Old barn on the property that we originally thought we'd renovate into a workshop. We've allocated space in the basement for that now, so instead we're considering investing in well placed explosives. BUT, there's an old chicken coop attached to the front of it, under which a red fox has made its home and raised a family. Beautiful animal. She once ran within six feet of me, so I got a really good look at her. What to do?

Bob; We've got Trex on our deck...8-9 years or so. Haven't had any uneven fading, there is no maintenance req'd other than applying my concoction each spring to freshen it up a bit.
Also, we had a fox or two here when we were first building. They are cute but when people come, they move on. In the meantime, throw her a piece of chicken every once in a while.
Thanks Bert! It's a tough spot for us to hear all the sales pitches, read all the reviews and then try to figure out what to do. I appreciate your insight. I'll talk about this again with our builder to see what he says. If we go composite instead of Ipe, I'll be asking more about your special concoction. Ellen is strongly in the Ipe camp. I'm leaning that way, but am not convinced that's in our best interests just yet. I really appreciate you taking the time to post a comment!
