We went to a charity dinner auction last night to benefit the Lutheran school our nieces attend here in Washington. I had planned to bid on a truckload of rock, and a gift card with landscape design services from the local plant nursery. Didn't get the rock, but did get landscape item, and an 8 week old black lab pup. We had planned to get a dog after we moved in, but my vision was a pound pup. Ellen fell in love with his demeanor, because he was soooo calm and affectionate. That he is. Our cat, Soleil, took the news reasonably well. I think the week she spent with Mom's dog prepared her for this invasion. They even laid on the same bed for about an hour. We don't believe we found the smartest dog on the planet (walked right into the "For Rent" sign in the front yard of our rental) or the most agile (tends to roll off whatever he's sleeping on), but we do think he'll fit into our lives well. No name as of yet.
